Blast Grid is a bomb-dropping arena game for one to eight players. The arena is on your TV or laptop, and every player walks and drops bombs with a d-pad and one button on their own phone. Knocked-out players are not left waiting: they ride a cart around the edge and throw bombs back in. When you play alone, three computer bombers join you.

How to play Blast Grid

  1. The arena is a 15 by 11 grid of solid pillars and wooden crates. Walk with the arrows; hold an arrow to keep walking.
  2. Press BOMB to drop a bomb where you stand. After 2.5 seconds it blows up in a cross that breaks the first crate in each direction, sets off any other bomb it reaches and knocks out every player it touches, you included.
  3. Some crates hide power-ups: an extra bomb, a longer blast, more speed, or kick (walk into a bomb to send it sliding). A knocked-out player spills up to five of their power-ups onto the floor for the others.
  4. Knocked out? You ride a cart around the edge of the arena and can throw a bomb in every 4 seconds. A glowing target shows where your bomb will land. Knock someone out with it and you jump back in where they fell. There are no throws in the last 15 seconds.
  5. A round lasts at most 90 seconds. After 60 seconds the walls close in from the outside, one block at a time, until a single cell near the middle is left just before the 90-second mark. Being under a falling block knocks you out.
  6. Stars decide the round: 2 for each knock-out, 1 each time another player goes out while you are still standing, and 3 more for the last player standing. Ties go to whoever lasted longer, then to whoever broke more crates.

Controls

A d-pad (tap it, or keep your thumb down and slide it round) and one big BOMB button. On the cart the arrows move you along the edge and the button throws.

Tips

  • Drop a bomb, then step round a corner: the blast only goes in straight lines.
  • Check your way out before you drop a bomb. Most knock-outs in the first game are players trapping themselves.
  • Bombs set each other off, so a chain can reach much further than one blast.
  • Start moving to the middle before the clock hits 60 seconds.

Start Blast Grid in three steps

  1. Open play.codewithshamil.com on a TV or laptop and press Host a game.
  2. Connect each phone to the same WiFi and scan the QR code on the screen.
  3. The first player picks Blast Grid from the menu on their phone.
