Dumb charades with a film list, a timer and a scoreboard
Dumb charades needs three things people always forget: a list of films, a timer and someone to keep score. Act It Out on Our Console does all three on your TV, while the phones pick the film and show it only to the actor.
How a turn works
- Four to eight players are split into two teams.
- The watching team sees three films on their phones and votes for the one the actor must act.
- The actor reads the title on their own phone and has 60 seconds to act it out with no words. Their team shouts guesses.
- A film guessed within 20 seconds scores 3 points, within 40 seconds 2, after that 1. If time runs out, the team that picked the film gets the point.
- If the actor speaks, the watching team can call Cheat on their phones.
The film list
The films come from Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and English cinema. The TV shows the language and the number of words, and the classic signs (number of words, syllables, sounds like) are shown on the big screen for new players.
Good for
- Family get-togethers and festivals
- College and hostel nights
- Office parties where people do not know each other yet
Questions
- How long is a game of dumb charades?
- Up to eight minutes. The last pair of turns counts double.
- Can we play dumb charades with only Malayalam movies?
- The list mixes Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and English films, and the TV shows each film's language.
- Do the guessers need their phones?
- Only to vote for the next film and to call Cheat. The guessing is shouted out loud, like real charades.
